DENR-PENRO conducts Mangrove Tree Planting Activity with CENRO-Socorro and PNP Maritime personnel
With the theme “Connecting People to Nature”, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) – Oriental Mindoro with the participation of CENRO Socorro, PNP Maritime personnel and LGU of Brgy. Wawa conducted a mangrove planting in support to the celebration of Environment Day 2017.
As part of the continuous effort of the government to mitigate the effects of climate change in the country, the mangrove planting is also part of the commitment of the DENR to the LGU of Brgy. Wawa in the rehabilitation of areas damaged by typhoon Nona in 2015 and Nina in 2016. More than 70 participants attended in the activity and planted a total of 3,000 propagules of “bakawan babae and bakawan lalake”.
